Well I bet you weren't expecting to see something so fluffy and festive on this Thrifty Thursday, now were you? And you might be asking, how does this cute lil thing have anything to do with Goodwill or thrifting scores? Well I'll show you! A couple of months ago I picked up this brown yarn-wrapped wreath from my local Goodwill.
Not only was the pricetag a thrifty $1.99, it also happened to be 50% off Saturday, so once de-yarned, I walked away with a perfectly good straw wreath form for just $1!
And now with the upcoming holidays, I knew just what kind of wreath I wanted to make with it...a fluffy and fun American flag! I purchased a roll each of red, white and blue tulle and from Hobby Lobby (which also happens to be 50% off this week, even more thriftiness!), along with red, white and blue ribbon. I cut 16 inch lengths of tulle from each color, gathered three at a time and tied around the wreath form. I alternated red and white on 3/4 of the wreath, and just blue on 1/4.
I then hot glued ribbon to the back to tie in a bow to hang the wreath from and voila! Here's how it turned out...
I hope you love it as much as I do!
Happy Memorial Day!
