{Birchbox Breakdown} The May Edition

In full disclosure, I received my Birchbox a while ago, but I'm just now getting around to posting about it! It's been SUCH a busy month. Well this is my now my third Birchbox, and I have to say that I enjoy anticipating then going through the goodies each month! Don't know what Birchbox is? It is the best way to discover new grooming, beauty and lifestyle products. You can sample top products from high-end brands, get expert advice, buy new favorites and earn points with every purchase. Fun, right?

This month Birchbox teamed up with the CW's “Gossip Girl” to deliver samples inspired by the series and Manhattan’s chicest events. This collection has exactly what an uptown lady needs for the highlight of the social season: a black tie ball. Even if couture isn’t in your closet’s vocabulary, you can still get a million dollar look with these glam products. Let's take a look...

Arquiste Flor y Canto :: Fragrance snobs, prepare to be blown away. Niche perfumerie Arquiste set out to create “concept scents” that recreate specific moments in history, and the results are nothing short of remarkable. Together with famed perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux, founder Carlos Huber put in countless hours of painstaking research to create Flor y Canto, a scent that evokes an Aztec summer festival in Tenochtitlan circa 1400. Wear it to be transported to a dimly lit temple altar filled with fresh flowers.

beautyblender® blendercleanser :: We’re all guilty of being a bit sporadic when it comes to washing our makeup sponges and brushes. But since we found this lavender-scented cleanser, we’re fully committed. Originally designed to be used with the bestselling beautyblender®, it’s also great for any other tool that comes into contact with our skin. The earth-friendly formula gets rid of the bacteria, dirt, and oil that can accumulate over time. Plus, the gentle low-suds formula doesn’t contain any artificial dyes or irritating ingredients.

Algenist Regenerative Anti-Aging Moisturizer :: In the battle against time, we’ve tried nearly every anti-aging product out there—and nothing beats this sophisticated moisturizer. Powerful enough to go head to head with our deepest lines and wrinkles, it uses a unique microalgae compound to spur the cellular renewal process. And unlike harsh retinoids, it won’t irritate skin and is gentle enough to wear during the day.

stila sparkle waterproof liquid eye liner :: The trick to rocking sparkly makeup past age 15? Keep it subtle. Infused with pearlized micro-glitter (read: not in-your-face sparkle), these liners work for both day and night. The pen-like applicator makes it easy to apply the waterproof pigments, while a unique polymer keeps the colors vibrant for hours. And when it comes time to remove your makeup, fret not: the oil-soluble formula wipes off easily.

Birchbox extra :: cute XOXO notecards and "Gossip Girl" trivia sweepstakes.

  1. Hey! Im one of your newest follower!! :) Just wanted to let you know that I got the Anti-Aging Moisturizer in my Birchbox this month too. I was excited because I tend to get dark circles under my eyes and I'm getting married soon so I couldn't wait to try it out. After about 3 days, my eyes are itchy underneath! Like really bad! And there are tiny bumps that you can't see but can feel. Just a warning...hopefully, it just reacts this way with my skin and other people will be fine! The itching is terrible though..

  3. I requested to sign up for birch box and still awaiting my email. I'm torn about the birch box. I've really gotten mix reviews, some people seem to like it and others are rather disappointed. I'd love to see another review of your next birch box! xoxo
