Thanks to all who have visited and commented on AJ's (my two-year-old) new Toy Story themed bedroom. If you haven't seen it yet, go take a look HERE!
As I mentioned in that post, I made a few things for his room that I would share a tutorial for. Up first: the Etch-A-Sketch chalkboard!
When I was doing research for the room (you know, hours on Pinterest), my friend Rebecca from The Crafted Sparrow, came across this idea and shared with me:

Once I found the mirror I wanted to use, I taped off the outside wood frame and spray painted two coats of chalkboard paint directly onto the mirror (yes, it works!). I let that dry, then taped off the inside of the frame to spray paint the outside red...many, many coats of red. In hindsight, I would probably use a primer since it took so many coats to get an even color, but it all worked out.
Once the red paint was dry, I printed out the Etch-A-Sketch logo, layered a piece of newspaper underneath it, and traced it onto the frame where I wanted the logo to go. By doing this, the newspaper leaves a faint outline on the frame (a trick I learned from Pinterest!). I then filled in the traced logo with a gold paint marker.
For the knobs, I purchased a set of four round wooden circles from Hobby Lobby, glued two of those together for each knob and painted them white with acrylic paint. Once those were dry and ready to go, I simply glued them in place on the frame...to bring me to the final product:
